Emergency First Aid at Work (Level 3)

Where an organisation’s risk assessment of first aid identifies a need for an Emergency First Aid at Work representative, this qualification satisfies the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)

Duration:
Minimum 6 Hours contact time consisting of theory and practical sessions.

Syllabus:
* Responsibilities and Reporting * Assessment of the situation * Resuscitation * Dealing with an unresponsive casualty * Basic hygiene in first aid * Anatomy * Minor Injuries * Bleeding Control * Burns * Choking * Epilepsy * Shock

Certification:
An ongoing assessment will be conducted throughout the course, and a multiple choice test paper will be issued to confirm the delegate has met the required standard. Providing the delegate passes both the theory and practical  elements they will be awarded a nationally approved certificate valid for 3 years. The HSE strongly recommend that all learners attend a 3 hour refresher in the middle of the 3 year period.

First Aid at Work ( Level 3)

This is the highest level first aid qualification in the work place, fully meeting the statutory requirement outlined in the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulation 1981. A suitable course if an organisations risk assessment requires a comprehensive first aider equipped to deal with a wide range of medical considerations.

Duration:
Minimum of 18 hours contact time spread over 3 days. Other course timing can be considered providing the overall course is completed in 10 weeks. On line training will be introduced soon, to provide you with another option for course delivery.

First Aid at Work Re-qualification ( Level 3)

This course is designed for people who already possess a first aid at work qualification, but the qualification is due to expire. The following rules for attendance include:

* A first aider can attend the 2 day refresher without question if their current first aid certificate does not exceed 1 month past its expiry date.
* If the first aid qualification has lapsed more than 1 month (but not exceeding 3 months) its possible the first aider can attend the course with applied ‘special conditions’ these are detailed below.

Special Considerations:
* A signed letter from the employer stating why in their opinion the first aider is suitably experienced to attend the 2 day refreshers rather than the full 3 day course.
* A decision is made by Latitude Training after discussions with the employer and the first aider, that their possess the relevant experience to attend the 2 day refresher.

If the first aid qualification has lapsed beyond 3 months the first aider will have to attend the full 3 day course.

Minimum of 12 hours spread over 2 days.

Paediatric First Aid ( Level 3 )

This course has been developed for those who are working with children and infants, and have a legal obligation for their welfare. This course is particularly suitable for childminders, creche assistants and school teachers, and fully satisfies the guidelines laid down by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and OFSTED  to receive 12 hours of paediatric training.

Duration:
A minimum of 12 hours will ensure both Unit 1 and Unit 2 can be delivered.

Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF Level 3)

This one day (6 hour) Emergency Paediatric First Aid course has been designed for those with an interest in child and infant basic life support.

If you have a professional interest in the safety and welfare of infants and children i.e childminder or school teacher, then this course partly fulfills the 12 hour Paediatric training required by OFSTED and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Basic Life Support for Health Care Professionals

Our Basic Life Support (BLS) course is specifically designed for clinical and administrational staff who already work in a healthcare setting. These courses will be pitched at the correct level for the delegates especially with a clinical background.

Sport First Aid

This is a fantastic course which consists of two units including the Emergency First Aid at Work module, as well an additional unit relating to management of injury and illness relating to physical activity and sport. Those who wish to obtain the Emergency First Aid at Work qualification are able to to attend unit 1 of this module, making this a very versatile course for anyone involved in sport. With trainers who possess personal experience in sport and physical activity, we can make the course very relevant to the sporting industry.

Minimum 9 Hours contact time consisting of theory and practical sessions.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator (QCF Level 2)

Heart and circulatory disease claims around 200,000 lives each year. Many could have been saved if a defibrillator was made available. Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) are now becoming more common throughout a range of public and work places. A casualty’s survival rate will dramatically increase if an AED is available and if you have appropriately qualified personnel to use it. This very practical course will enable your learners to use the AED competently and with confidence. Not only does this course deal with the use of an AED but it also includes vital training in resuscitation and choking procedures.

Duration:

minimum of 6 contact hours in the classroom, consisting of practical and theoretical activities

Assessment and Marking:

The course Instructor is responsible for determining whether delegates pass or fail based on practical and oral assessment throughout the course, i.e. by observation and oral questioning, as well as the completion of a multiple-choice question paper at the end of the course. The Instructor will only award a pass if they believe that delegates have displayed the requisite understanding and competencies at the end of each session throughout the course and successfully passed the question paper.
